About 2012 Hyundai SONATA Hybrid
Hyundai's Hybrid Blue Drive runs on the already fuel-efficient 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Blue Drive is among the first full hybrid systems on the market to use a "conventional" step-ratio automatic transmission. The Sonata hybrid is equipped with a 30 kW permanent magnet synchronous electric traction motor that produces 151 lb.-ft. of torque from zero rpm.
The 2012 Sonata Hybrid can be driven in zero emissions, fully electric drive mode at speeds up to 72 mph or in blended gas-electric mode at any speed. When the car comes to a stop and the electrical load is low, the engine is shut down to completely eliminate idle fuel consumption and emissions.
The Sonata Hybrid also features an electrically driven air conditioning compressor so that climate control can be maintained during engine off driving. Like power steering, the electrically driven air conditioning compressor allows for more precise on-demand control reducing the overall load on the powertrain, cutting fuel consumption.
The 2012 Sonata Hybrid offers drivers an engaged way to drive fuel-efficiently. The Hybrid Technology Display is featured on a 4.2-inch LCD screen located between the odometer and tachometer, or is visible on the optional 7-inch navigation screen. It features the following information: Driving mode; Energy flow within the vehicle; Engine and motor movement; Fuel level; Battery power levels and charge status; Electric vehicle mode indicator; and average and instant mpg.
